When David Bowie passed away last year, it hit at the heart of millions of fans. He was a legend from a different time and he was able to transform himself in every era even to the very end. There are not enough words that can be said about how much he meant to the music industry and the entire world.
That’s why it’s a great thing when the entertainment industry keeps giving us memorable tributes of the rock icon. Lady Gaga did an outstanding tribute to David Bowie at the 2016 Grammy’s in which she received criticism from his son. But she responded, “Whatever he was feeling in that moment I have compassion and love for him. But yes, of course it hurt.”
The Real Ziggy Stardust
That’s how hard it is to do a tribute of David Bowie and receive admiration from his biggest fans. But, Gillian Anderson is doing it in American Gods. She seems to nail her likeness of Ziggy Stardust. But we’ll have to see how the fans take it.
Gillian Anderson plays the part of Media in the show American Gods, a show on Starz starring Ricky Whittle as Shadow and Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday. The clip below shows Bruce Langley playing the role of Technical Boy who gets a visit from Media. In the show, Media can take on many forms and chooses only those forms that will be most effective in a contemporary sense.
Gillian Anderson As Ziggy Stardust
That’s why Media comes to Technical Boy as Ziggy Stardust, one of the most famous personas of David Bowie. Gillian Anderson nails the part. It can’t be denied that Gillian can play any role she’s challenged with including Marilyn Monroe and Lucille Ball as just a few of the characters she has tackled in her role as Media.
Although, you also know Gillian Anderson as Stella Gibson in The Fall and more famously as Scully in The X-Files. She has quite an acting range that seems to be drawn toward Sci-Fi. Now that you are aware of who she is and the work she’s done, catch her on Starz as Ziggy Stardust in American Gods.
